The Golden Key
Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm

One winter day, the ground was covered with deep snow. A poor boy had to go out with his sled to gather wood. He collected the wood and packed it on the sled. He was very cold and did not want to go home right away.
He decided to light a fire and warm himself. He scraped away the snow. While clearing the ground, he found a tiny golden key. He thought, "Where there is a key, there must be a lock." So he dug in the ground and found an iron chest.

"If only the key fits!" he thought. "There must be precious things in that little box." He looked for a keyhole, but could not find one. At last he discovered a tiny keyhole, so small it was barely visible. He tried the key, and it fit perfectly. He turned it once.
Now we must wait until he has unlocked the chest and lifted the lid. Then we will learn what wonderful things were inside.
